Household Structure for the Child Medically Needy Program
The family relationships are used to determine who must be included in the Child Medically Needy Medicaid household. A person may be counted in the household size even though the person does not qualify for or request coverage under the Child medically needy program. Section 347 provides the Child Medically Needy program requirements.
1. Spouses, parents and siblings who live together are counted in the household size.
2. Family member to exclude.
a. Do not include a parent, step-parent or adoptive parent who receives SSI in the household size.
b. Do not count a sibling who receives SSI in the household size.
3. Count an unborn child, or children, of a pregnant woman in the household size.
