521-26 Crime Victim's Compensation Payments

Payments made by a state to aid victims of crime are excluded as a resource for nine (9) months starting the month after such payment is received if the payment is compensation for expenses incurred or losses suffered due to the crime.  The funds must be separated from the individual's other funds.  Interest earned on retained funds does not count as income.
