591-1 Definition of a Burial Space

A burial space is a:

• burial plot

• gravesite

• crypt

• mausoleum

• casket

• urn

• niche

• Other repository customarily and traditionally used for the deceased’s bodily remains.

• Other necessary and reasonable improvements or additions to the burial space, including:

• vaults

• headstones, markers, or plaques

• burial containers

• arrangements for the opening and closing of the gravesite, or

• a contract for care and maintenance of the gravesite sometimes referred to as endowment or perpetual care.
