General Eligibility

The MWI program is for people of any age who are disabled and who have earned income.  People who are eligible for this program:

Can have countable assets of up to $15,000, and,

Can pay a premium when their countable income is more than 100% of the FPL.

Disability

The client must meet the requirements for disability in section 303-2. If the person is age 65 or older, have the Medicaid Review Board complete continuing disability reviews because Social Security will stop doing disability reviews once the person turns age 65.  For someone turning age 65 and receiving MWI, complete a disability review within 12 months.

Earned Income

The client must have earned income. There is no requirement to earn a certain amount of income or work a minimum number of hours each month.

The client must verify that the income is earned. Some verifications are check stubs with FICA deductions, self-employment quarterly or annual tax returns, or a written business plan or business license.

Income received from a college work study qualifies as earned income.
