Institutionalized Clients
Institutionalized clients are allowed to keep a certain amount of money for their personal needs. See Table II-A for this income amount.
Do not allow a personal needs allowance for institutionalized A, B, or D Medicaid clients without a spouse if a doctor says the client is likely to return home within 6 months of admission to the medical institution. See Section 463-1 for deductions for short-term stay clients.
