Procedure IVES/BEERS Reports - Accessing
Along with certain other governmental agencies, we participate in the Income Eligibility Verification System (IEVS). This allows us to receive computerized income matches from other agencies. The type of income match data we receive includes Wage Match, UC (unemployment compensation), SDX (Supplemental Security Income), BENDEX or BDX (Social Security benefits), BEERS, and IRS (Internal Revenue Service) income match records. Income information received from SSA or the Internal Revenue Service must be safeguarded according to the requirements of the agency that furnished the data.
Safeguard all reports of matched data. This includes printouts, notice and request forms, computer terminal screen displays, and any other items which contain Income Match reports. Restrict access to all income match reports. (Section 115-2 explains the rules on who has access to Income Match information.) Failure to follow these rules can result in a fine of $5,000 and a five year jail term for each offense.
See section 115-1 for specific safeguards of IRS Income Match Records. The income match records are different than IRS Federal Tax Information. (The agency does not receive IRS Federal Tax Information at this time.
See 751-3 for information when to verify income match data.
